  1. Hi Steve,

Problem regarding not able to read file on laptop is solved—I put it here because I'm sometimes a bit of an F-Wit by looking at the complicated methods rather than the basics. Mind you I would not have found it if I hadn't read a similar problem on and IOS phone. I tried reducing the screen and then discovered, for some reason—probably at my end—the "Project View was closed. On opening the Project View the screen was still grey until I actually (yeah) clicked on the first chapter and all appeared.

As in my post, I am running:

Version 3 on my 2009 Mac Desktop (not at home at present so unable to say what OS Version, but it is the last one the 2009 models could update.

Version 4 on my 2019 MacBook Pro I am running MacOS Sonoma v14.

I believe I purchased Storyist somewhere around 2014. Pretty sure it was Version 3 - I have no licence details as I lost a lot of emails on which the licence details were stored on, so if it is possible to forward same it would be great.

Love the program and have used it extensively since purchase and will forward this by email.

Again, thanks so much for your prompt response, I bashed out the above in panic as my transport arrived, the support is another great aspect of the program.

  2. I was running V3 on my 2009 Desktop Mac and my 2019 MacBook Pro Sonoma v14 - I upgraded MacBook to V4

Novel for past months saved to iCloud - today accessed iCloud on laptop to work

    1. the file downloaded 'blank'

    2. copied file from Desktop files to Laptop - still blank

    3. Shutdown and restarted computers - still blank

    4. Downloaded and loaded V3 onto MacBook Pro running Sonoma v14 -

Pop Up Box  - Storyist Trial    -— "Please install your Storyist 2 Licence too. Storyist found your Storyist 3 upgrade licence, but did not find a licence for Storyist 2"

I no longer have a copy of my Storyist 2 licence as it was kept on a computer and backup damaged. The files with those passwords and licences for a number of programs that no longer exist.

I have a considerable amount of work I now cannot access on my laptop what is the fix please

  3. I have twenty one chapters with a number of 'Secton Seperators'

OUTLINE -  allows for many things (tick) The "Word Count" is shown as well as "Rating"  but I cannot seem to get the "Status" to show on the page, I put in "First Draft" or an of the other listed status titles and... Nothing.

The column appears to be closed and I cannot seem to find a way of expanding it??? Your help/advise please

  4. Sorry for delay in response, I had no idea I had received a reply. Only here due to another problem, I have now slid the 'Notify me" across :)

What you suggest I have been doing in some form or another, but it is a problem as as present I started out with one novel and am now writing it as two, each from different perspectives and each following different paths, the characters only overlapping on certain dates of time.

It is a heavy handed way of doing it, not so bad if starting a new novel in a series, but that is not what I'm doing, plus I have already divided the novel by duplicating. I do appreciate your input though. Thanks again. B

  5. I have needed to split my novel into two separate novels - Novel A and Novel B

REQUIREMENT:  A simple method to copy files, links, and documents from Storyist Novel A to Storyist Novel B as a whole document. A complete Project, Scene or Section Sheet copied and pasted.

ALSO: The ability to link research collated on 'Text File - Notes' which contain both notes and links to webpages To 'Drag&Drop; a link in the Project, Scene or Section Sheets.'TO THE NOTE'  containing the research.

I have in-depth notes and research links on Settings, Scenes and Projects in Novel A, and need to keep the timeline in sync.

It would be beneficial, especially to me, to be able to copy folders and or individual Setting, Scene and Project files/documents across to Novel B. It appears at present it all has to be raised new in Novel B then copy and pasted each individual 'Summary', 'Synopsis', 'Plot' and 'Notes'.

This would save a large amount of time and help with maintaining a time line on the Project Board between the two novels, Novel A now 47k words with all the associated information and and Novel B now 67k words in with no associated information.

On completion of these two novels, I am expecting to finalise both A and B, with a final novel C. Again, I expect to require the research and information already gathered.

If this is already possible then by all means delete this Topic. Otherwise, I will be interested to hear your views, and/or suggested ways of doing the above.

    Regards

  6. I downloaded but did not install Storyist 4 BUT havingdeleted the .DRM file and the file loaded into my hidden library. Each time I load Storyist 3, which I have used for several years. I get a pop up box giving me the option to 'Enter Licence Code' - 'Use Demo' or 'Buy Online'.

Currently it is telling me I have 12 days left of a Demo I have not loaded onto my computer????

How do I remove this annoying box. I cannot afford to upgrade and wish to continue using my program without this distraction

  7. I thought I had the problem solved BUT NO  Within minutes of posting this, I found by deleting "Untitled Plot Point", a brown heading. Changing the colour, then putting my own heading, I could get the desired result. Thought I'd finally solved it.

    But NO.

Even this does not change the Font Colour - after 'Saving' and then coming back into the document, I find it has reverted back to its original colour ????????

  8. I may have the placed this in 'Troubleshooting' incorrectly, but having spent hours attempting to change the Heading Colour on the Plot Point Sheet, I felt this was possibly the right place.

I have version 3.5.2 (12352) I am at a critical point in my 80K word novel and require to print off the Plot Point Sheets.

Problem:  The Heading (Title) of each sheet is a mucky Brown Code CC9933 -

As this will not print on my printer I have attempted to find a way to change this to standard Black Code 0000

Can any body tell me how I can change this.

For me at this point of time it is important to have the Titles = Chapter references and Summary of the chapter printed

    Thank You in Anticipation
