  1. Hello, I have an old .story file and unfortunately I no longer have the iPad that I used to write it, nor any iOS devices for that matter.o I just found a short story of mine in a old DropBox account and I would love to reclaim it, however I currently only have an Android phone and a Windows PC. Is there anyway I can access and save the file without the Storyist application? If not, could I share the file with someone who would save it in a PC/Android friendly format (e.g. .rtf or similar)? Thanks in advance! PS I will be happy to provide a link to the file. I can't really think of another way of doing this. Help/ Suggestions are really, really appreciated!
  2. I am just getting started with Storyist and have just installed it on my iMac (El Capitan) and installed the app on my iPad (IOS 9.3.1). When I start my project I would like to be able to sync between the two as seamlessly as possible. Most of the time, I will work on the iMac but sometimes I may make a few changes or add something using my iPad and would like that to be part of the project the next time I open it on the iMac -- and vice versa. I have read over some related posts but did not quite find my answer. So, can I do that via iCloud? Or do I need to use Dropbox? Either way, exactly how? Thanks!

    iOS Widget

Would there be any chance that we could get a widget for iOS to display our writing goals, say for the day or even the overall goal? I'm sure not many would use it, but I think personally it would be handy to see how far behind I am to motivate myself to write more
  4. Hi - I just purchased Storyist for iOS today, am using it on my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6s. Both work fine, sync well, no problems. I can go my iCloud Drive folder on either one and find the Storyist file folder, along with the files I've put there. However, when I go to my iCloud drive on my MacBook Pro, I cannot see the Storyist folder. I've tried going to iCloud drive via Finder, and also through Safari, logging in to my iCloud account. I've logged out and back in multiple times; started and re-started my MacBook multiple times; and added an item several times in an attempt to "force" a sync. But none of these have worked. I can still see and access the Storyist folder on my iOS devices; I still cannot see it nor access it on my MacBook. (Note - on my MacBook, I am using the trial version of Storyist - I'm in the first day of the 15-day trial. I was trying to decide whether to move to Storyist since Scrivener still does not have an iOS version. So far, I love what I see, but obviously I want and need iCloud sync functionality.) Help please? Thanks!
  5. Hello, I've spent an hour now trying to get my iPad to recreate the view I see at the top of the iOS instructions I've pasted in below. What I want to achieve is to have the view whereby my cards are running down the side of the 'Project' view, and my manuscript is showing in the pane on the right. I cannot for the life of me work out why I can't get it to change from 'Project' view to anything else. I have tried it with files I 'synched' via Dropbox from my Mac version, and I've tried it with the 'Novel Template', and still no joy. I appreciate this is probably the dumbest question ever asked in the history of help forums, but any advice will be gratefully received! http://update.storyist.com/downloads/Storyist-for-iOS.pdf
  6. Howdy, all. I'm still noodling about with Storyist, having been drawn to it because I like the idea of retaining my formatting across platforms (Mac / iOS) and having the hierarchical structure that lets me organize my work by chapters and sections in a way a linear text editor does not. So my question. On the iPad, the keyboard has that row of extended keys - cursor motion, single and double quote, etc. What I'd like to know is if I can customize those keys and, if so, how. For instance I'd like to have a typographical open and close quote option (specifying “ and ” as custom-set keys in the extended area, rather than leaving it as "), easier access to other buried keys (such as the em dash and ellipsis), and so on. Is this an option for Storyist on iOS currently?
  7. Love the iPad app, however the app has a usability issue that causes me a lot of problems. 1. I typically use the app in landscape mode, with the project menu pinned, so it resembles a split view controller. 2. I drill down on a file to view the outline. 3. When toggling the main view between text and corkboard, the project view loses state and pops back to the root project view.
  8. Hi Steve, I've been going back and forth between iOS and Mac OS versions of Storyist in recent days, editing and refining on whichever device comes to hand. I've been watching the word count more than usual to keep a sense of how my cuts and edits are balancing out, and I noticed that they're different - that is the counts for words, pages etc. on iOS Storyist are different to the counts on MacOS Storyist. This for an apparently identical document kept in sync via dropbox. I've just tested this with one of your default projects - created as new, and named, but not edited in any way, and I get a discrepancy. I did a quick search to see if this had been reported, but couldn't find anything, so though I'd give a heads up on this one! Nick
  9. Whenever I add a new index card a pound symbols appears in my screenplay. I assumed that it's some sort of auto formatting but when I export or print the symbol still remains. Could somebody tell me what these are for? Thanks.
