Internal Link Feature broken

I'm trying to create an internal link to a Storyist Notebook element from my novel manuscript. I open the "Edit -- Insert -- Link" window and select "Storyist Element." Once the window opens I cannot do anything in any combination to get any options from which to select. I tried leaving the element search on "All" and then again on "Notebook" but nothing changes the fact that the lower window columns "Title" and "Type" remain empty and I cannot type into them. I also tried typing the title of my Notebook element into the search window but that doesn't make it appear, either. :(

The external link feature works fine.

Using Storyist 2.3.1 (1392)

Am I missing something? I've read the manual 3x....

Hi Tonia,

Thats odd. I'll take a look.

Note that you can also create a link to a notebook entry by

1) Dragging a notebook entry from the Project view.

2) Typing "[[

]]" in the manuscript, where <title> is the title of your notebook entry.<p> </p> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentcommentid="14559" data-ipsquote-username="Tonia" data-cite="Tonia" data-ipsquote-timestamp="1317264403" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="1811" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> <p>The external link feature works fine. </p> <p> </p> <p>Using Storyist 2.3.1 (1392)</p> <p> </p> <p></p> </div></blockquote> <p> </p> <p>2.3.3 is the most recent. Thanks, Steve; the alternatives to the window do the job.

I hadn't upgraded to the latest Storyist because I am the unfortunate non-owner of an iPad -- so far.

Actually I spoke too soon -- after testing the EPUB output, it seems I cannot establish ANY internal links. I have to leave office briefly but when I return will reread all the instructions in the manual -- but I tried dragging the note to the location (it makes what looks like a link but in the output it is neither underlined nor blue nor active). I tried the double bracketing, same result.

When it does all work, can one make internal links from any element to any element, or must it be Notebook entries only?

Linking capabilities very important to me for EPUBs.

Thanks,

Tonia

Hi Tonia,

The ePub exporter doesn't support internal links (other than the table of contents, of course).

If you want to add them to your book, you'll need to dive down into the HTML in the ePub file. For the links, you'll just need basic HTML knowledge, and if you don't have a favorite HTML editor, you can use Sigil to handle the HTML editing and ePub packaging.

Oops, I knew that.... once. In reading posts here about links I somehow (in hope, I guess) concluded my first understanding had been wrong about internal links and EPUBs.

Off to study HTML again and learn Sigil. I will be so glad when I have an established workflow for these ebooks!
