Mutantmule
This will be the single dumbest inquiry ever. I sent myself the first scene of my novel from my laptop as an email attachment. I sent it to the email address that I use in my iPad 3. I got it. It's there. It's a .docx file. About 30 kb. NOW, I want to move it from being an attachment in my MAIL over to Storyist so I can actually begin to use Storyist. But I don't know how. Would somebody take pity and explain in a 1-2-3, here's a curb, step up manner exactly what I need to do, in order, so that I can get started using Storyist. Do not assume intelligence. Thanks. Steve
Hi Mutantmule, Storyist for iPad can't open .docx files, but it can open RTF files, so you could: Save your Word doc in RTF format. Email it as an attachment to the address you are using on your iPad. Open the message in Mail and tap the attachment. Tap "Open In" and choose Storyist from the list of options. -Steve
Mutantmule
Thank you. It worked. Now I have a first scene or chapter in a Storyist document ready for addition. Now, next dumb question. How do you SAVE your work in Storyist? I don't see a SAVE command anywhere. I'm a longtime PC guy. Never used a non-PC before (except back in my Kaypro days). PC folks are used to saving frequently because we assume bad things are going to happen.
Steve
Hi Mutantmule, On iPad, your project is automatically saved every two minutes or less. -Steve
Hogscape
Hi folks, I also followed these instructions and imported my RTF. Alas, the imported file is not a Storyist file - I can't create scene headings etc. Do I need to copy the text into a template or am I missing something? Many thanks
Steve
Hi Hogscape, To import an RTF file into a Storyist project, you'll need to use the Copy from iTunes or Copy from Dropbox commands (available by tapping the Import button in the toolbar). -Steve
