jdp23
It seems like Storyist has gotten steadily slower and crashes more frequently as the document has grown in size (it's now about 500 pages along with some character sketches). It can take 30 seconds or more to save the file, and sometimes other operations also cause it to freeze -- or even crash. Any suggestions?
Steve
Hi jdp23, It's hard to say without more information. Let me ask you a few questions: What version of Storyist are you running? What version of OS X are you running? How much memory do you have in your Mac? How much free disk space do you have? What size (in MB) is your Storyist project? -Steve
jdp23
Thanks Steve ... Storyist 2.3.1, MacOS 10.7.5 8 GB memory; according to Activity Monitor, it's got over 2GB free even when running Storyist 200GB free disk space so I'm pretty sure that's not it The Storyist porject is only 300KB (yes KB, not MB)
Steve
Hi jpg23, Storyist 2.3.1 is fairly old (it was released in 2010, before OS 10.7), so the first thing to do is update to 2.4.5. There was a bug a while back that that caused saves to slow down over a period of time if you started a session timer and left it running. That's probably what you're seeing. -Steve
jdp23
Thanks again! Can't believe I missed that -- I've got 2.4.5 on another machine but never use that one
thewitt
I'm running 2.4.5 on OSX 10.9.5 and my current project is 260,000+ words. Very fast. Very efficient software
jdp23
Upgrading seems to have solved the problems. Thanks for the quick response!
