Steve
This is a couple of weeks old. Worth a read. Who Needs A Manual To Write Real Good? Me and a friend was talking about using proper grammar. And he says to I, "Today is the 50th anniversary of Strunk and White's Elements of Style." So I got me a copy and totally mesmerized this vast suppository of information. -Steve
emoKid
That was cute. I own a copy of the Elements of Style. I always keep it on my desk. I rarely open it, but sometimes I do when I get a negative critique on a paper.
Steve E
Sure, S&W's Elements of Style (EoS), Hodges' Harbrace College Handbook (HCH), and the venerable Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS); we all have them stashed somewhere. But when I'm zooming around a paragraph I prefer speedy online sources. (EoS is online at Bartleby's. CMoS charges for their online manual but here's a free sample.) I think we have a thread for online reference help somewhere. -Thoth.
