kslangnc
Hello: I have created a new style called "Copyright" for the copyright page information. I have checked the box for "Paragraph starts on a new page." When I view this in Storyist, the text appears on a new page, but when I export it to a Mobi file and view it with the Kindle Previewer, all of the text appears on the same page as the preceding paragraph. How to I make certain that text appears on a new page? Is there a way for force a page break for Kindle formatting? Thanks! Steve
Hi kslangnc, Paragraphs having the "Heading 1" style start on a new page automatically, so you could change the heading level of the "Copyright" style to "Heading 1." -Steve
kslangnc
Thanks, Steve, but could I then revise the font size and type to match the body text, only italicized? When I tried this, the exported mobi file showed the copyright text on a new page, but the style matched the larger heading font and style. Does the Kindle pick up several different styles, or just Heading and default body text? Sorry, this is my first try at this. I very much appreciate the advice. Steve
Hi kslangnc, The Kindle exporter uses the default styles on the the device where possible, but leaves hooks (CSS class definitions) in the markup so that people who are comfortable editing HTML and CSS can customize the book. The How to Publish on Amazon with Storyist screencast has some information about how to do this and the "Creating Custom Kindle Editions" section in the Editing ePub files post has some info too. Another option for creating a page break in the Kindle edition is to move the copyright page to its own file. See the template in the eBook with Front Matter post. -Steve

marguerite
For what it is worth, I keep my copyright info in the Notebook as its own note. When I export to Kindle/ePub, I click on the note as well as the MS and cover, drag it into place (if necessary), and continue. Works like a charm.
