Please Give Chinese Language a Proper Word Count

UPDATED: It`s Character Count (Without Space) By Section what I`m actually asking for. Calling it word count is incorrect.

Many documents I wrote are in Chinese, so I`m afriad without this proper word count, I have to switch back and forth to other software simply for this purpose.

Currently, word count in Chinese is different in Storyist and Apple Pages.

For example, in Chinese these are the most common symbols with their word count:

One Word:

·

Two Words:

……

——

Zero word:

SPACE (Actually Chinese language doesn`t use space at all)

Hi circlecrystal,

Storyist and Pages use the same Apple-provided word count code, so you shouldn't see a difference. I've attached screenshots showing the above characters in both applications.

If this is now what you see, could you kindly attach screenshots with the results you're getting?

Hi circlecrystal,

Thank you for the screenshots.

I notice that the Storyist screenshot shows a word count while the Pages screenshot shows a character count. What happens if you change the Pages character count display to show words?

Conversely, what happens if you click on the word count placard in Storyist to reveal characters? Do they match the Pages character count?
